The Role: Engineering Manager
Location: Rugeley
Salary: £TBC

The Role
Job purpose
Our client is looking for an Engineering Manager, reporting to the Engineering Director, to lead the Transit department in achieving the company engineering strategy. This is a key role within the management team.

Key responsibilities
To take Design Authority responsibility for engineering within projects
To manage the allocation of engineering resources to projects in conjunction with the relevant Programme Managers
To work with other members of the Management team to make a significant contribution to the overall strategic direction of the division
To manage and develop the engineering personnel
To represent the company in technical presentations and negotiations with customers and suppliers
To carry out other duties that may reasonably be required by the Engineering Director in support of departmental activities (eg Recruiting, mentoring, troubleshooting)
Effective leadership and management of Engineers
To allocate engineering resources to the projects and to work with marketing and the Programme Manager to manage priorities and promote engineering capability
To contribute solutions to engineering issues and problems requiring significant judgement and technical expertise.
To provide technical advice and be involved in the preparation of bids
To ensure procedures appropriately support the need to meet statutory requirements for all equipment delivered, eg Safety, Electro Magnetic Compliance
To work with the other Engineering Managers to develop effective engineering processes and standards
To conduct occupational risk assessment
To contribute to the engineering and business strategy
To ensure that the skill profiles meets current and future requirements
To identify inefficiencies and improve standards and productivity

Personal attributes
(BSc) Bachelor of Science, or equivalent practitioner expertise in the engineering industry, ideally rail sector.
Proven track record of relevant industry experience and detailed knowledge of your subject area
Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, statutory requirements and industry best practices
The ability to develop other engineering staff
